Casablaca , We will always have Paris?

1. Relate what was discussed in class or the text to the screening.
In class we spoke about how this movie was iconic for that time period. It was set in Africa during WWII.  This was important because the war was still going on. Americans did not know what would happen at the end.  This movie help ease the mind of the Americans and Allies.

2.  Find a related article and summarize the content.
http://www.reelclassics.com/Movies/Casablanca/casablanca-article.htm
This article talked about Casablanca in the days before the allied occupation had obvious possibilities as the background of a film of intrigue and adventure, and "the film which goes into the Regal and Warner cinemas next Friday has taken at least a reasonable percentage of its opportunities." It gave a good review on the love romance and action in the movie

3. ) Apply the article to the film screened in class.
We talked about this movie alot in class.  I personaly think this was the professors favorite.  Just like the article  says this movie had romance and action.  There are many memerible quotes that were used also in this movie

4.  ) Write a critical analysis of the film.
Rick Blaine, who owns a nightclub in Casablanca, discovers his old flame Ilsa is in town with her husband, Victor Laszlo. Laszlo is a resistance leader from Czechoslovakia, and with Germans on his tail, Ilsa knows Rick can help them get out of the country.

The Graduate, Are you trying to seduce me Mrs. Robbinson ?

1. Relate what was discussed in class or the text to the screening.
The graduate is about a young smart college student that is tring to find his way, with his carrer, love, and money.   In class we talked about how this movie was targeted to college students like us.   During that time Civil Rights was going on, a war in Vietnam, and other social events.  This movie, we learned, was geared twords people in our age group.

2.  Find a related article and summarize the content.

This article says that this movie is  Essential.  "the film reflected the social-protest movement of the decade or romanticized youth for an older mass audience, it was undeniably a phenomenon of the era." I agree with this statement because there was many changes that was going on with the world at that time, and this movie tried to capture the view of the youth.

3. ) Apply the article to the film screened in class.

Like i said before this movie has tried to camputer the view point of a yound audeince.  Like we talked about in class many events were going on that many of the people at that time questioned.

4.  ) Write a critical analysis of the film.
The graduate takes a different approach on telling a story. This is awesome and i really like the character dustin hoffmen plays.  He is relateable.  The only problem i have with this movie is the music selection. Many of the sceens emotions did not go with the music playing in the background.  In all this movie gave the story of a young man trying to find his self, find love ,and temptation.  I would recommend this movie to anyone who wants to know how it feels like to be a college student
 in the 60s

The Godfather. "Its Never Personal....Just Buisness

1. Relate what was discussed in class or the text to the screening.
In class we discussed the changing times of cinema.  The use of violence and language was permitted and this was allow for the Godfather.  This movie will go down in history as one of the greatest crime dramas ever mad e and one of my personal favorites.

2.  Find a related article and summarize the content.
http://www.tcm.com/tcmdb/title/443184/The-Godfather/articles.html

this article makes it clear that "no real film lover is unfamiliar with this movie. Coppola examines the closed-door dealings of Don Corleone (Marlon Brando), a pseudo-benevolent mafia chief who believes, often with guns drawn, that his family comes first"  It also talks about how this movie was the "bible" for other gangster movies that would come along, like Goodfellas, Scarface and Casino.

3. ) Apply the article to the film screened in class.

Like we discussed in class this article pointed out that this paved the way for other crime movies that would come along.  The use of violnce and laguge was permitted. " The Godfather would go on to become the highest grossing film in motion picture history (at that time), easily outdistancing a southern-fried monolith called Gone with the Wind (1939)." It would also be nominated for 11 Academy Awards, winning Best Picture, Best Actor (Brando), and Best Screenplay (Puzo and Coppola). The film spawned two sequels, and is considered by many people to be the single greatest picture of the 1970s. Certainly, it ranks among the top six or seven works of a masterpiece-heavy decade.

4.  ) Write a critical analysis of the film.

This was one of my favorite movies of all time.  It touched on political, and social issues at that time.  The Mafia was a prevalent force in the late 60's.  The only question i would ask is that would Italian Americans feel like they are being portrayed as violent gangsters?  In all this is a movie that no one should miss, it will go down in history as one of the best.  I would recommend this to anyone who love a good story, dialog , and scenery
