Gone with the wind.... frankly my dear i dont give a damn!

1. 1. Relate what was discussed in class or the text to the screening.
This movie is about carlett. She is a woman who can deal with a nation at war, Atlanta burning, the Union Army carrying off everything from her her home Tara. This can relate to what was discussed in class.  We talked about the time this movie was made and the racism and sexism that went along with it.  The movie won academy awards and many of the black actors were almost banned from the screening.  In class we talked about the history and importance of this movie and why is was considered an American classic.

2. .  Find a related article and summarize the content.

http://www.tcm.com/tcmdb/title/414427/Gone-With-the-Wind/articles.html

this article talks about the signifigance of this movie and how it was one of the longest, most expensive and successful Hollywood films made up to that point in time.  and how it was very risky to even try to make due to the budget.  it claims that the movie is one of the best for its time.

3. ) Apply the article to the film screened in class.
as we talked in class we gain knowldge of how the film showed how it was to be in the south.  The article also points out that Gone with the Wind also struck the first major blow against Hollywood's repressive Production Code, presenting an adult view of marital relations in Scarlett and Rhett's discussions of the place of sex in their marriage. As such, it led to a softening of the Code that would gradually bring more adult content to the screen.  We learned that at that time sex and powerful independent woman were not really sought after in movies and there was a strict code.

4.  ) Write a critical analysis of the film.

This is  story  of a woman's life during one of the most dangerous periods in America's history. From her young, innocent days on a feudalistic plantation to the war-torn streets of Atlanta; from her first love whom she has always desired to three husbands; from the utmost luxury to absolute starvation and poverty; from her innocence to her understanding and comprehension of life.  This movie shows the trials and tribulations of blacks and southerners who died or got hurt in the civial war.  It is about love, lust, innocence and new beginnings
